Catherine Monzingo

 

Family lawyer Catherine Monzingo opened the Monzingo Law Office in Lexington, KY in  2002. Since that time, she has represented clients in all areas of family law from divorce to domestic violence to adoption. She has presented continuing legal education programs on a broad range of family law topics for the Kentucky Bar Association, Fayette County Bar Association and the National Business Institute. 


Catherine has completed several special trainings that complement her family law practice:


  • Advanced Training in Personality Disorders in Legal Disputes: Understanding, Managing, Treating, and Setting Limits (2019)
  • Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School (2018)
  • Family Law Mediation certification (2002)


Catherine is the former chair of the Family Law section of the Kentucky Bar Association, former co-chair of the Domestic Relations section of the Fayette County Bar  Association and former board member of the Fayette County Bar Association. She is a current board member of Micah Legal. Catherine is member of the American Bar Association (Family Law Section), Kentucky Bar Association (Family Law Section) and Fayette County Bar Association (Domestic Relations Section) and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.


From 1999-2002, Catherine served as an Assistant Public Advocate for the Department of Public Advocacy. There she represented adults and children on felony, misdemeanor and status offenses and honed her trial skills through practice and the DPA training, including week-long trial institutes.


Catherine graduated from the University of Kentucky with a JD (1998), BS Agriculture (Natural Resources Conservation and Management curriculum) (1995) and BA, Honors Program (1992).


Outside of work as a divorce attorney and family lawyer, Catherine enjoys spending time and making a home with her husband, step-son and their dog. For fun, she enjoys rock climbing, snow skiing and quilting.
